Easy to use for basics

I just use the free version for watching a few stocks, and it's pretty good. I like the stock heatmap, it gives a quick overview. It was simple to set up my watchlists. I haven't tried any of the fancy stuff, but for basic tracking, it works fine.

Good features, some lag

I upgraded to TradingView Pro last month and have been using the multi-timeframe analysis a lot. It's really useful for my strategy. The real-time data was quick most of the time, but I noticed a slight lag occasionally, especially during volatile market hours. Customer service was responsive when I had a billing question, which was a plus. Overall, a solid platform for the price.

I'm a student, do they have any special discounts for us? Most software companies do.

A Andrew Davis 1 month ago
I've heard people mention student discounts before. I think you need to verify your student status, but it's worth checking their site or support.

They do! My friend got a pretty sweet deal by proving he was a student. It's not always advertised front and center, but it's there.

Thinking of getting a paid plan, but wondering if they do big sales. Should I wait for Black Friday or just jump on an annual plan now?

A Aaron Smith 1 month ago
Definitely wait for Black Friday if you can. They usually have their biggest discounts then, like 60-70% off sometimes.

Yeah, I got my Premium sub during Black Friday last year for way less than the annual rate. If you're not in a huge rush, it's worth it to hold out.

I'm currently using MetaTrader, but keep hearing about TradingView. Is it actually better, or just different?

L Laura Scott 4 weeks ago
TradingView's charting is much more modern and user-friendly than MetaTrader, IMO. Plus the social aspect is huge. MetaTrader feels kinda clunky now.

G Grace Anderson 3 weeks ago
They're different beasts. TradingView excels at charting and community. MetaTrader is more about automated trading with EAs. Depends what you prioritize. I switched to TV for the interface.

How exactly do referral links work? Can I just click one someone sent me and get a discount, or is it more complicated?

C Carol 1 month ago
You usually get a credit to your account when you sign up through a referral link, and the person who referred you gets one too. It's not always an upfront discount, but more like a future credit.

AFAIK, you just click the link, sign up, and then you'll see the credit applied. It's pretty straightforward, no special codes needed.

What's the main difference between Plus and Premium? Is Premium really worth the extra cash?

C Chloe W. 1 month ago
Premium gives you way more indicators per chart, custom timeframes, and pretty much unlimited alerts. If you're serious about multiple strategies, it's a game changer.

D Danielle Parker 1 month ago
Plus is good for most people, but Premium is when you start getting into really advanced stuff like even more simultaneous charts and deep multi-timeframe analysis. Depends how deep you go.
